When I moved back to South Dakota in 2016, I wanted to find a way to embrace my new community and contribute to the local pride. So I launched a side project called Local Gems where I designed apparel that celebrates my home state of South Dakota. The shop offered shirts, tanks, hats, mugs and more and represented a sophisticated and restrained design aesthetic. In addition, every purchase supported a local non-profit, Feeding South Dakota.
